Three kilometers east of Fish Lake lies the abandoned town of Retallack with a few old buildings still standing. On the North side of the Highway leading through a cluster of buildings is the Whitewater Creek trail that follows an old logging road for several kilometers. The road weaves into the creek and the Mt Brennan/Lyle creek trail leads off to the right after 2 kilometers. The Lyle Creek road traverses treed slopes eastward and after two kilometers enters the drainage. You will probably lose the trail soon after this point but continue working up the creekbed following trees on western side up steeper slopes . This section here is very much exposed to avalanche hazard with serious terrain traps. The terrain opens up slightly ahead and the steep section of climbing is over. Follow the valley upwards into open bowls and the Brennan col. The Brennan Glacier is on the north-eastern side and normal glacier precautions should be taken, it is however possible to avoid the glacier by taking a line directly to the summit. If you chance being up here on a beautiful spring day you are one of the lucky few....
